A Cosmos-SDK EVM-compatible testnet, Berachain bArtio showcases Proof-of-Liquidity economics, fast CometBFT finality, and low-cost DeFi-focused development with BERA gas.
Berachain bArtio is the public EVM-compatible testnet for Berachain, built on Cosmos SDK (Polaris EVM) with CometBFT fast finality; its native currency is BERA. It is used to deploy and validate Solidity dApps, wallets, oracles, and cross-chain/IBC integrations, and to rehearse Proof-of-Liquidity (PoL) mechanics and validator/infrastructure operations before mainnet. Performance snapshot: block speed ~1-2s with near-zero effective gas costs (faucet-funded), TPS varies by test cycle with no official benchmark published, and activity is bursty during testing campaigns.
bArtio is unique for showcasing Berachain’s Proof-of-Liquidity design and tri-token model: BERA (gas), non-transferable BGT (governance/emissions), and HONEY (stablecoin), aligning liquidity providers, validators, and protocol incentives. Unlike typical EVM L1s, it runs the EVM on a Cosmos chain with CometBFT fast finality and IBC-oriented interoperability, delivering low fees and quick confirmations; compared with many EVM L1s, bArtio’s ~1-2s blocks and negligible testnet gas enable higher-throughput experimentation under load.
Berachain bArtio uses BERA as the gas token for transaction fees. You can obtain BERA by bridging from other chains or purchasing using thirdweb Bridge, or through faucets (for testnet).
To bridge BERA to Berachain bArtio, connect your wallet to thirdweb bridge, select your source chain, choose the token you want to bridge, select Berachain bArtio as the destination, enter the amount, and confirm the transaction. The bridge will handle the cross-chain transfer instantly.
To build on Berachain bArtio you can use thirdweb, which provides an easy way to build, monetize and scale your apps, games or agents. You can find detailed guides and documentation on https://portal.thirdweb.com to get started quickly.
To add Berachain bArtio to your wallet, you can connect your wallet and click on [Add to Wallet] button at the top of the page. Alternatively, you can add the network manually using the RPC URL and chain details and add it to your wallet's network settings.
To send BERA on Berachain bArtio, ensure your wallet is connected to the Berachain bArtio network, enter the recipient's address, specify the amount of BERA to send, review the gas fee, and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
