An EVM-compatible Layer 2 optimistic rollup testnet on Ethereum Sepolia, Boba Sepolia enables low-cost, fast transactions and Hybrid Compute for integrating off-chain data.
Boba Sepolia is Boba Network’s Ethereum Layer-2 optimistic rollup testnet that uses ETH for gas and mirrors the Boba mainnet environment for safe, no-cost experimentation. It is designed for deploying and rehearsing EVM smart contracts, bridge flows, Hybrid Compute calls (off-chain API/ML integrations), and withdrawal/exit mechanics before mainnet. Performance for testing is significantly higher than L1 Sepolia (Boba Sepolia ~2–3s L2 confirmations, hundreds TPS, near-zero test-ETH fees vs. L1 Sepolia ~12s blocks and ~15 TPS).
Boba Sepolia is unique for its Hybrid Compute, which lets smart contracts call off-chain APIs and ML inference with verifiable results—enabling data-rich dApps that typical L2 testnets don’t natively support. It also offers fast confirmations and low fees for rapid CI/CD, plus liquidity-assisted fast exits and cross-chain messaging to rehearse complex bridge scenarios. Compared with other testnets and L1s, it provides faster block cadence and higher throughput (≈2–3s L2 confirmations, hundreds TPS, effectively zero-cost test ETH), with activity geared toward development and integration testing rather than production load.
Boba Sepolia uses ETH as the gas token for transaction fees. You can obtain ETH by bridging from other chains or purchasing using thirdweb Bridge, or through faucets (for testnet).
To bridge ETH to Boba Sepolia, connect your wallet to thirdweb bridge, select your source chain, choose the token you want to bridge, select Boba Sepolia as the destination, enter the amount, and confirm the transaction. The bridge will handle the cross-chain transfer instantly.
To build on Boba Sepolia you can use thirdweb, which provides an easy way to build, monetize and scale your apps, games or agents. You can find detailed guides and documentation on https://portal.thirdweb.com to get started quickly.
To add Boba Sepolia to your wallet, you can connect your wallet and click on [Add to Wallet] button at the top of the page. Alternatively, you can add the network manually using the RPC URL and chain details and add it to your wallet's network settings.
To send ETH on Boba Sepolia, ensure your wallet is connected to the Boba Sepolia network, enter the recipient's address, specify the amount of ETH to send, review the gas fee, and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
