Carbon EVM is an EVM-compatible runtime on Carbon’s mainnet (Cosmos SDK, Tendermint) that lets Solidity dApps deploy with SWTH gas and interoperate over IBC. Primary use cases include building high-performance DeFi—perps and spot trading, structured products, and automated strategies—tapping Carbon’s native order-book ecosystem (e.g., Demex) and trust-minimized cross-chain routing across Cosmos and EVM networks.

Carbon EVM uniquely combines Cosmos IBC-native interoperability with an EVM environment, delivering deterministic finality in about ~2 seconds, low fees (typically under a cent for simple transfers and low cents for contract calls), and practical throughput in the hundreds of TPS with bursts above 1,000—well below the costs and latency of Ethereum L1. Beyond performance, developers can compose with Carbon’s on-chain order book and settlement primitives that power Demex, use SWTH for predictable gas economics, and access seamless cross-chain liquidity via IBC for high-frequency, low-slippage trading use cases.

Carbon EVM uses SWTH as the gas token for transaction fees. You can obtain SWTH by bridging from other chains or purchasing using thirdweb Bridge.

To bridge SWTH to Carbon EVM, connect your wallet to thirdweb bridge, select your source chain, choose the token you want to bridge, select Carbon EVM as the destination, enter the amount, and confirm the transaction. The bridge will handle the cross-chain transfer instantly.
