An EVM-compatible test network for Cronos that enables low-cost smart contract testing with Cosmos SDK architecture and IBC interoperability, backed by Crypto.com.
Cronos EVM Testnet is the public, EVM-compatible testing network for Cronos (built on Cosmos SDK/CometBFT), using TCRO as gas and mirroring mainnet behavior for Solidity smart contracts and CRC-20/CRC-721 tokens. It’s used to safely validate deployments, cross-chain IBC/Cronos Bridge workflows, gas/fee behavior, and integrations with tools like MetaMask, Hardhat, Foundry, and Remix before going to mainnet. Developers can obtain TCRO via the faucet and inspect transactions on the testnet explorer.
Cronos EVM Testnet uniquely combines Ethereum tooling with native Cosmos IBC interoperability and the Cronos Bridge, enabling end-to-end testing of cross-chain dApps across Cronos, Crypto.org Chain, and Ethereum. Performance observed on testnet: ~5–6s block times with instant finality, 100–200 TPS in practical tests, a simple transfer (~21k gas) costing around 0.1 TCRO at 5,000 gwei, and steady daily on-chain activity—offering faster finality and lower fees than Ethereum L1. This delivers low-cost, high-throughput EVM development while keeping seamless compatibility with wallets, frameworks, and the broader Crypto.com ecosystem.
Cronos EVM Testnet uses TCRO as the gas token for transaction fees. You can obtain TCRO by bridging from other chains or purchasing using thirdweb Bridge, or through faucets (for testnet).
To bridge TCRO to Cronos EVM Testnet, connect your wallet to thirdweb bridge, select your source chain, choose the token you want to bridge, select Cronos EVM Testnet as the destination, enter the amount, and confirm the transaction. The bridge will handle the cross-chain transfer instantly.
To build on Cronos EVM Testnet you can use thirdweb, which provides an easy way to build, monetize and scale your apps, games or agents. You can find detailed guides and documentation on https://portal.thirdweb.com to get started quickly.
To add Cronos EVM Testnet to your wallet, you can connect your wallet and click on [Add to Wallet] button at the top of the page. Alternatively, you can add the network manually using the RPC URL and chain details and add it to your wallet's network settings.
To send TCRO on Cronos EVM Testnet, ensure your wallet is connected to the Cronos EVM Testnet network, enter the recipient's address, specify the amount of TCRO to send, review the gas fee, and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
