Curtis is the ApeChain public testnet—an EVM-compatible Arbitrum Orbit rollup operated by Caldera—where APE is the native gas. It’s used to deploy and benchmark dApps, games, NFTs, and cross-chain bridges before mainnet, with ~2s blocks, hundreds-TPS benchmark capacity, and near-zero APE testnet fees enabling rapid iteration (see status/RPC at https://curtis.hub.caldera.xyz).
Curtis is unique in that it mirrors ApeChain’s production stack and gas token (APE), providing realistic gas economics and execution while remaining a safe test environment. Compared to Ethereum L1 (~12s blocks, ~15 TPS, dollar-level fees), Curtis targets ~2s block times, hundreds TPS, and sub-cent average gas in APE test tokens, and exposes live activity, faucet, explorer, and bridge endpoints via the Caldera hub for immediate developer use.
Curtis uses APE as the gas token for transaction fees. You can obtain APE by bridging from other chains or purchasing using thirdweb Bridge, or through faucets (for testnet).
To bridge APE to Curtis, connect your wallet to thirdweb bridge, select your source chain, choose the token you want to bridge, select Curtis as the destination, enter the amount, and confirm the transaction. The bridge will handle the cross-chain transfer instantly.
To build on Curtis you can use thirdweb, which provides an easy way to build, monetize and scale your apps, games or agents. You can find detailed guides and documentation on https://portal.thirdweb.com to get started quickly.
To add Curtis to your wallet, you can connect your wallet and click on [Add to Wallet] button at the top of the page. Alternatively, you can add the network manually using the RPC URL and chain details and add it to your wallet's network settings.
To send APE on Curtis, ensure your wallet is connected to the Curtis network, enter the recipient's address, specify the amount of APE to send, review the gas fee, and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
