It powers zero‑trust tunnels and file sharing in Diode Drive without VPNs, port‑forwarding, or centralized servers. As of Sep 2025, blocks are produced in single‑digit seconds, average gas costs are a fraction of a cent, sustained throughput is in the tens of TPS, and activity is primarily identity, registry, and routing updates rather than high‑volume swaps.

Diode Prenet is unique because it is purpose‑built for secure networking: identity‑based access control, on‑chain PKI (BNS) without external certificate authorities, and default end‑to‑end encryption enable censorship‑resistant sites and remote device access. Lightweight clients run behind NAT/firewalls and on constrained hardware, making it practical for always‑on edge deployments. Compared with general‑purpose L1s, it prioritizes predictable sub‑cent fees and seconds‑level block times over maximum TPS, delivering steady tens‑TPS capacity with low variance and low operating cost.
