Kava is a Cosmos SDK, proof-of-stake Layer-1 that merges an Ethereum-compatible EVM co-chain with a Cosmos/IBC co-chain, enabling native movement of apps and assets between both environments. Primary use cases include deploying Solidity DeFi and gaming dApps that tap IBC liquidity, issuing and transferring native USDT across the Cosmos ecosystem, and bridging assets between EVM chains and IBC zones. For performance, Kava delivers ~1–2s deterministic finality, typical gas fees under $0.01–$0.05 in KAVA, and capacity in the hundreds of TPS with >1,000 TPS theoretical headroom.

Kava’s unique co-chain architecture connects an EVM execution layer directly to a Cosmos/IBC chain via a Translator module, so the same dApp can use Ethereum tooling (Solidity, MetaMask) while accessing IBC liquidity without external bridges. It serves as the native USDT hub for Cosmos and features on-chain, usage-based developer incentives (Kava Rise), all while maintaining low fees (sub-cent to low-cents), ~1–2s finality, and high on-chain activity across both EVM and IBC. The network is secured by a professional validator set and offers seamless interoperability that most single-stack L1s and L2s can’t match.

Kava uses KAVA as the gas token for transaction fees. You can obtain KAVA by bridging from other chains or purchasing using thirdweb Bridge.
