A zkEVM Layer 2 testnet built with Polygon CDK, X Layer Testnet offers low-cost, OKB-gas EVM deployments, AggLayer interoperability, and seamless OKX ecosystem integration.
X Layer Testnet is OKX’s EVM-equivalent zero-knowledge Layer 2 built with Polygon CDK, using OKB as the native gas token and settling to Ethereum, designed for safe end-to-end testing of smart contracts, bridges, and wallets. It enables developers to simulate production workloads for DeFi, NFTs, and gaming with negligible gas in test OKB, fast confirmations, and high throughput. Typical testnet telemetry shows ~1–2s block times and burst throughput in the hundreds of TPS, supporting high-frequency and cross-chain test scenarios.
X Layer Testnet is unique for its OKB-denominated gas, tight integration with the OKX ecosystem (OKX Wallet, exchange liquidity, and fiat on/off-ramps), and interoperability via Polygon CDK/AggLayer for seamless cross-chain liquidity and messaging. It combines ZK validity proofs and Ethereum settlement for strong security while remaining EVM-equivalent, so Ethereum tooling and bytecode work out of the box. Compared with L1s like Ethereum (~12s blocks and ~15 TPS), X Layer Testnet delivers second-level blocks, hundreds-TPS bursts, and near-zero testnet gas—ideal for benchmarking bridges and latency-sensitive dapps.
X Layer Testnet uses OKB as the gas token for transaction fees. You can obtain OKB by bridging from other chains or purchasing using thirdweb Bridge, or through faucets (for testnet).
To bridge OKB to X Layer Testnet, connect your wallet to thirdweb bridge, select your source chain, choose the token you want to bridge, select X Layer Testnet as the destination, enter the amount, and confirm the transaction. The bridge will handle the cross-chain transfer instantly.
To build on X Layer Testnet you can use thirdweb, which provides an easy way to build, monetize and scale your apps, games or agents. You can find detailed guides and documentation on https://portal.thirdweb.com to get started quickly.
To add X Layer Testnet to your wallet, you can connect your wallet and click on [Add to Wallet] button at the top of the page. Alternatively, you can add the network manually using the RPC URL and chain details and add it to your wallet's network settings.
To send OKB on X Layer Testnet, ensure your wallet is connected to the X Layer Testnet network, enter the recipient's address, specify the amount of OKB to send, review the gas fee, and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
